R&D Superconductors low temperature

Research and Development on low temperature superconductors

A specific
superconducting conductor was developed for the superconducting coil that will constitute the outside coil of the future hybrid magnet. It is obtained through brazing a Rutherford Nb-Ti/Cu cable on a hollow Cu-Ag profile. To validate this conductor, several transverse R&D activities are being run on thermomagnetic instabilities, brazing between superconducting conductors...  

Submillimetric dendrites (diameter of 0.4 mm) in one of the tin alloys studied for brazing superconducting conductors. Des métaux d’apport présentant de bonnes propriétés mécaniques et électriques aux températures cryogéniques sont recherchés.
