Spin polarization of the 5/2 fractional quantum Hall state

The fractional quantum Hall (FQH) effect observed in a high quality 2 dimensional electron gas (2DEG) at low temperatures and high magnetic fields is a direct manifestation of electron-electron interactions, which open energy gaps in the density of states for certain fractional occupation of the Landau levels. Control superconductivity between two insulators with a electric field

Physicists from the LNCMI took part in the following collaboration: In this Letter, we show that a superconducting two-dimensional electron gas is formed at the LaTiO3/SrTiO3 interface whose transition temperature can be modulated by a back-gate voltage. The gas consists of two types of carriers: a majority of low-mobility carriers always present, and a few high-mobility ones that can be injected by electrostatic doping.
