Generating static high magnetic fields in the LNCMI - Grenoble requires highly qualified engineers and technicians in order to produce the highest possible magnetic field and to make its use available for the scientists. It is about
- designing and building copper based resistive magnets,
- running and developing the power installation (24MW) that supplies magnets with electricity and the cooling installation which cools them down, - developing instrumentation devices always more innovative to allow for state of the art scientific experiments. |

The laboratory owns different types of resistive magnets that can generate up to 36 T, and is developing a hybrid magnet combining a superconducting coil with a resistive magnet aiming at 43 T.
